Position Description
- Prepare concept layouts and feasibility analyses
- Establish street profiles and prepare grading designs for new streets and additions to existing streets
- Preparation of site and building grading plans
- Design and establish profiles for sanitary sewer and waterline utilities
- Prepare drainage designs for stormwater management facilities and general street and site drainage systems
- Coordinate with various planners, engineers, environmental scientists and surveyors within the firm
- Coordinate with various architects, other consultants and clients in the design of subdivision and site development plans, municipal project and road improvement plans
- Coordinate and work with regulatory agencies to obtain agency approval of projects
- Attend design meetings and conferences as required to accomplish project work
- Review project sites in field prior to and under construction
- Prepare design schedules and written correspondence as required to accomplish work
Position Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering
- Strong preference for students with intern, co-op or equivalent experience with civil engineering land development consulting firms.
- Candidates with equivalent engineering experience with other types of consulting firms, or public works agencies will also be considered.
- Strong preference for graduating engineers with E.I.T. certification.
Responsible for all facets of land development engineering design projects. These projects include subdivisions, site plans, and road and utility improvement plans, as well as design analyses and correspondence that are part of these projects. These projects are performed for private developers, educational institutions, municipalities, and at Federal Government installations.
Position Description
- Responsible for preparation of civil engineering design projects for residential, commercial, and educational clients design of site and subdivision plans
- Preparation of feasibility, drainage, and flood plain studies
- Design and preparation of construction plans for street and utility systems, storm water management systems and erosion & sediment control design
- Performance of quality control/quality assurance reviews of projects
- Coordination with various consultants and clients in the design of subdivision plans, site development plans, municipal projects, and road improvement plans
- Work with regulatory review agencies to obtain approval of projects
- For Mid-Level Engineers, manage multiple projects
- For Senior-Level Engineer, manage multiple projects and manage other civil engineers and CADD operators in the accomplishment of projects.
Position Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, MS preferred
- 6 years experience with a minimum of 4 years design experience in Land Development
- Experience in road and grading design
- Proficiency in hydraulics & hydrology
- Working knowledge of HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR 55, and TR 20 or equivalent programs
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in Northern Virginia
- Professional Engineer candidates preferred.
