Fort AP Hill Oral History Project
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Oral history interviews were conducted to compile historical information on pre-acquisition history on the Fort A.P. Hill lands, to serve as an archive for future generations, and to make the collected documentation available to researchers and the general public. Sixty-two informants were interviewed for a total of 80 hours of recording. Interviews were recorded digitally in MP3 format, transcribed into written text and professionally archived. The knowledge gained in this preliminary research lays part of the foundation for the research required to produce a historic context for Fort A. P. Hill. This material will be developed into a popular history publication of the lands before Fort A.P. Hill. This project is part of Fort A.P. Hill’s innovative Alternate Mitigation Project.
