Conducted a phase I cultural resource survey of a twelve acre area for a proposed development at Cabins at Travis Lake at Fort A.P. Hill in Caroline County, Virginia. This Phase I cultural resources survey was designed to identify and record cultural resources that are located in and/or near the area of potential effect. Our scope of work consisted of conducting background research, visual inspection and subsurface testing. Background research consisted of a review of records maintained by the State of Virginia at the Department of Historic Resources. Fieldwork consisted of excavating 135 shovel test probes and visually inspecting the area.
